Casino – More Than Just a Place to Gamble

Whether it’s a high roller looking for the thrill of the game or a tourist seeking a night of opulence, world-class casinos have something to offer everyone. But a casino is more than just a place to gamble, it’s also a major economic contributor to the communities they serve.

When a casino opens in an area, it brings in jobs, taxes, and money for local businesses to buy goods and services. And that’s not including the local residents who get jobs at the casino itself. These benefits help keep the unemployment rate lower than it otherwise would be in the surrounding community.

Many people associate casinos with seedy backroom gambling parlors, but that’s not entirely true anymore. Large, professional casinos are usually very safe and provide a wide range of services to their customers. And although crime does occur around casinos, it’s rare and police are often close by to ensure the safety of all patrons.

Casino is one of Scorsese’s best films, with a compelling plot, great acting, and memorable characters. Robert De Niro’s performance as Nicky is a master class in how to build a character with both depth and intrigue. And Sharon Stone delivers her best performance as the blonde hustler Ginger McKenna. Joe Pesci’s portrayal of a mobster chasing Ginger is a prime example of how well-built a scumbag plotline can be in a movie.
